The 1926 Census – a treasure trove for house history hunters that unveils long-lost tales from our cities
The recent publication of the 1926 Census figures provides a lucky 10pc of Ireland’s homeowners access to the keys to a fabulous time machine; allowing them to open a window into exactly what was happening within the walls of their homes a hundred years ago; and in the earliest years of our fledgling state. Around one in 10 of our housing stock standing today was constructed prior to 1926.
