I’m willing to admit that, before I discovered the seriousness of its symptoms, the rate of mortality, and its general awfulness, I was open to the idea of contracting the hantavirus. For a while there, I was even jealous of the people on the cruise boat; wished I could be stranded at sea for weeks on end, left to roam a death ship with nothing but the latest cinema releases and a never-ending buffet to keep me company.
