References play a very small part in sentencing says Circuit Court Judge

Those giving references in criminal sentencing cases should ensure that they are fully aware of the circumstances of an offence before they agree to give a reference, Judge Keenan Johnson said during the sentencing hearing of two men on charges arising out of the assault and false imprisonment of three teenage boys in a warehouse.
