Wexford
New Billy Roche play finds the epic in the ordinary, but needs more polish and sheen
Playwright Billy Roche came to prominence in the late 1980s with his Wexford Trilogy at the Bush Theatre in London. He became the troubadour of small-town Irish life, painting sharply characterised pictures of friendship, work and romance. Of Mornington, written a few years ago but only now getting its professional premiere (Ad Personam Cultural Events Ltd and Gary Lydon Productions) moves in these same social circles.
