Irish barrister to take senior EU job as ‘DG Competition’

Irish EU civil servant Anthony Whelan will for take over one of the European Commission’s most powerful and sensitive jobs – as director general (DG) for competition – the Financial Times has reported, citing officials briefed on the decision which is not yet public.
