If a child wants to give up on dance or guitar lessons should you let them, or make them continue?

Sarah Michelle Gellar, star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, gave an interview to People magazine recently in which she described how her daughter Charlotte had been a competitive dancer, and how, when Charlotte decided dancing wasn’t for her, Gellar told her she still had to see out her commitments. “You have to finish,” she told her daughter. “You have to see that out. That’s important.”
