How the deliciously ridiculous Rolling Stones ‘Steel Wheels’ tour changed concerts for ever

It was during Street Fighting Man that the scale, ambition and absurdity of the Rolling Stones’ Steel Wheels tour of 1989-90 really hit home for fans. Four multicoloured 40ft-tall inflatable dogs rose from the immense stage’s flanks, each with fangs bared and vast canine genitalia bobbing in the evening breeze.
