‘Couples want a say in how their wedding should feel’ – marriages fall 7.7pc amid ‘changing preferences’

New figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) showing a 7.7pc decline in the number of marriages in Ireland between 2014 and 2024 point to a “redistribution of demand rather than a collapse in demand”, according to Catherine McWade, a humanist wedding celebrant.
