Battered and bruised but never broken, Aoife Wafer is ready to strike

As Aoife Wafer made her way down the side of the indoor pitch at the IRFU’s high-performance centre last Tuesday, she spotted a coin on the ground and picked it up for good luck. It was her first day back with the Ireland squad ahead of the Six Nations and if the life of an elite athlete is about controlling the controllables, it’s also no harm to stay on the right side of everyday superstitions.
